NUTRITION COUNSELING

We offer nutritional assessments and counseling sessions in our office or in the comfort of your own home or private location. The initial assessment will take about 1 ½ hours and follow up sessions are about 30 to 45 minutes long.

During the first session we will review your reason(s) for obtaining nutrition counseling, evaluate your nutritional status and health risks, discuss your concerns and goals for the counseling sessions, set realistic goals to ensure you achieve success and create your own personal plan of action.

Follow-up sessions are used as a time to review your goals and make changes where necessary. We will discuss what has been working and what has not been working for you and come if necessary come up with new goals or new plan of action.

All nutrition counseling sessions include:

• Information on goal setting
• Distinguishing between cravings and boredom
• Simple, sustainable lifestyle changes
• Healthy eating on the road, on vacation or at work
• Menu/meal planning
• Finding the right fitness plan to fit your lifestyle
• Detailed recommendations
• Handouts/worksheets/resources
• E-mail support between sessions
• 3 day diet analysis

Couples Nutrition Counseling

In most cases making lifestyle changes that last can be easier with the support of your significan other. Maybe the other person does the grocery shopping or doesn't realize how tempting it is to watch them eat ice cream each night. By meeting with both of you we can discuss how you can work together to reach your personal health goals. Couples counseling includes everything listed above, however the initial assessment will take about 1 ½ to 2 hours long.

Senior Nutrition Evaluations (for those 65+)

As we age there are many health concerns that can arise - osteoporosis, heart disease, lack of appetite, or just not having easy access grocery stores. If you are concerned that your parent or grandparent might not be eating as good as they could be and it is affecting their health, we can help by making a 1 hour home visit to evaluate their nutritional status, and help make recommendations to improve their nutrition. We can also help find local resources such as meals on wheels, transportation to senior centers, or home delivered grocery services. 

Personalized Meal Plans

In order to jump-start changes in your nutritional habits, we will create your own personalized 7 day meal plan for you to follow, taking into consideration your own personal likes and dislikes. This service is offered at an additional cost.
